concept \ process \ material
As in my life so in my art.
In my studio, I study the properties of my materials: handmade paper and hand forged steel. I learn new processes, I experiment, fail, succeed. I try to test the limits of each material, finding ways to expand, new ways to connect two elements. I notice the effect the environment has on a piece, the way air moves my paper “leaves” and also the way a piece effects its environment, the shadows cast by my paper and steel chandelier.
My art practice is about trying to understand my own inner workings by observing the natural world and exploring my mediums. These sculptures, are my findings.

My studio practice balances my energy even as I create
A fiery and forceful day at the anvil, a slow and waterlogged day of pulling paper sheets, a day at my desk putting it all together.
